what to do... what to do...

its noon on the 24th and I can't decide whether I need to run/bike or do some last minute shopping. My family (correction: my DAD) instilled a very stressful attitude on my sister and I when it comes to gift giving. I suppose its similar to whats explained here on sushi, that one needs to assert their power by paying for dinner/ie. gifts. Whats extremely annoying is that our dad asks us what we want and when we say "nothing, it's ok", he gets mad. He tells our mom we're "bad children" because we don't tell him. I still can't decide what to do. I feel so laaazy...

P is for Pandemic

hahaha. I just saw a hilarious skit on madtv where big bird kills the seasame street muppets because of his bird flu. Elmo appears when one of the humans carts him out on a wheelbarrow with a bunch of other stuffed guys and Elmo has a last giggle "hee hee hee..." and then his eyes roll and become bloodshot hahaha. Oh... the stupid things that make me laugh. The night started on a darker note: "Syriana". Its a great movie. But the trailer for "Hostel" was what I'm writing about. I guess the premise is that you can pay to torcher someone. Would that be a fantasy for any of you? Sometimes I watch these torcher scenes and I can't help but think what it would be like to inflict this type of pain on someone. (Like taking pliers and ripping out someone's nails one at a time, cutting fingers/toes, paper cuts in between your fingers etc.)

So whats with the inactivity these days? Are you all busy at work? I woke up around 9am, ate, moped, then fell back asleep until 1pm hahaha. Being unemployed is kind of nice :)

all i want for Christmas...

is my two front teeth
funny i've never heard this christmas song before until this year... i was at the mall (shocking, isn't it) and i swear the stores all pipe the same christmas music channel/CD cuz i heard the same song in 2 different stores... it's classic, from the, what, 50s? and very cute...

of course when i heard the lyrics, i thought, is this a hillbilly christmas song? but then i realized that the song is about a kid who's baby teeth are gone and waiting for the two adult teeth to come in...

i still remember we were laughing cuz deviline liked the song Santa Baby and she would belt out some of it when we were on route to/from high school during the holidays... i miss caroling in the snow, or going with the school choir to perform at the malls looking silly and embarassed but it was all good times... or the 5 years of christmas when we would go in a group to volunteer and gift wrap for the children's hospitals...

Mamma

MIA! :) so i finally went to watch Mamma Mia and it was great! high energy, although the story was pretty typical (hint of corny/predictable)...
but the songs, the dancing, the costumes were great; it made me feel like breaking into my D-I-S-C-O moves!!! love it, can't wait to get the soundtrack so i can go crazy and overplay the abba songs on my shuffle.

my favorite musicals are still Les Miz and Miss Saigon (partial to Les Miz because we all sang the songs from there in Vocal Ensemble in high school; and partial to Miss Saigon because karen and i went to watch it when WE were 17, same age as the main character Kim)...

Chicago and Phantom movies, i own them, and they're ok. I want to see Rent just because i own the soundtrack and lost disc 2 so i never really followed quickly enough when i watched the broadway musical to know what really transpired in the 2nd half.

Bystanders effect

interesting: the Bystanders Effect where the more people are around, the less likely someone is to help you...
my mom's always said if you were being mugged, it was better to yell "fire! fire!" and have ppl notice you; that they were more willing to help.

then again, she's also sent me boxfuls of diet pills of all sorts, miraculous cures, made me walk on plastic egg-shape 'carpet' to stimulate nerve endings in the feet that's supposed to fix everything everywhere else in my body (which my friend Ambles recently sold his set, i would've paid to have my friends try it today!)... *wink*

are diamonds really a girl's best friend?!?!

time to chick-up this blog a bit, let me ask a question - are diamonds REALLY a girl's best friend?
for my friend's holiday group photo, we were all there pretty and made up, and the other women have fancy gold jewelry from her Indian wedding, or diamond earrings/necklaces/bracelet sets. they are a few years older than me but dang, i ain't got no diamonds or gold...

my friend lent me her diamond earrings for the picture, and said 'dear, you NEED to have a pair of awesome diamond earrings'. truthfully they were dazzling and sparkling on my ears... Can u say "bling bling!!!".. so i was looking online at diamond earrings - how big is big enough?! how many carats should sparkle on my ears?!

i guess it's part of maturing and growing up... like having some CLASSY basics - little black dress, fabulous few pairs of shoes, a kicking handbag, elegant silk scarf, diamond jewelry for fancy functions... it goes with my image that i own sterling silver jewelry, have only 2 brandname handbags i bought with my own money, 1 pair of fabulous stilletto heels and a-now-ill-fitted little black dress. i haven't really grown up yet, as you can see...
