good old days...
yes i've disappeared off the face of the earth from this blog, many, MANY apologies, i am truly sorry... but glad to see y'all continue to use this to stay in touch.
so i found some of my old diaries and re-read some of them last night before bed... i was cracking up like crazy; it reads like comic book. i guess one of the things i've forgotten is how BigDeal everything used to FEEL like for a teenager, and how much i feel i have to say about every topic (which is great, because honestly i have forgotten the details otherwise...)
i couldn't resist bringing up some highlights here... Karen, Ange, Sue and i went to all girls school together; at 16 at least *I* was UNFABULOUS, and ended up taking, as my Grad Date, this skinny vietnamese guy who spoke vietnamese and french let's call him Triangle (while i spoke english and chinese - think romeo and juliet with less romance and more language barriers... I must have been enthralled with his atheletics abilities; he was a badminton player). The reason we nicknamed him Triangle was nerdy/geeky; his name was Pascal, and we were in math class and giggled when the Pascal Triangle theorems were introduced, so the nickname stuck. Anyways, Triangel was my grad date, i don't even know why it was such a Big Deal to have a grad date - Karen and Beth were 'stag' (without a date) and i bet u they had a better time.
well graduation dinner were the girls, the dates and the parents in a huge hotel ballroom downtown. i have vivid details in the diary entry about how after dinner, Karen and Ange went on to torture MY grad date... for some reason, them two just bullied Triangle - took his suit jacket and tried to put it on - TRY because he was so skinny, the girls were able to get it maybe up to their elbows, and then run around laughing with the jacket halfway worn while he chased them down to get it back. Such cruelty from such pretty creatures; i know. ;)
Ange, i didn't remember this but apparently you and i danced up a storm at the end of the evening when nearly no one was left on the floor and we won 10$ gift certificates for Sam the Record Man. go girl friend, i want us to use those moves again and team up once more for old time's sake at Karen's wedding!!!!!
another page of my journal has the typical biting humor of Sue's... i think i submitted a few drawings and poems to the year book as well as the annual Independent School Publishing Book and i think they published some of my stuff; as well something like i won a drama prize or something (truthfully i don't remember getting a prize for drama, this shy little girl?!?!) but she wrote in my journal that i shouldn't be a hussy even if i go into acting. and remember, she says: Don't Be a Hussy.
i was laughing to tears!
and Karen will appreciate this, but in the entry of grad day, where i woke at 9am, and eventually got ready for the dinner, sunrise etc... i wrote that i woke up, and had 2 instant soup noodle that morning. TWO. BY MYSELF.
i still tell the disgusting (but facinating, much like this Snake puking Hippo video clip) story, of how Karen and I used to bum around Chinatown after school on our way home, sometimes we'd stop and eat, we'd order 2 plates of rice/noodle dishes, plus a small size wonton soup and we'd FINISH the entire thing; we'd never understand the disgusted horrified amazed look the chinese stick skinny waiter guys would give us when we went to eat... OMG how bad were we???
sorry, needed to take this posting to travel down memory lane; come with me :)

Why is that pathetic?
I have a similar view of my high school days. It wasn't exactly the best time of my life. Although it was an *important* period of my life, as it usually is for most people, I didn't exactly enjoy it.
I don't know is THIS is the "time of my life", but I'm definitely enjoying my 20s more than my teens. Many days still to come.
Asians "bloom" later? ... no comment
I dunno about "time of my life" stuff, but I think in life there are always the ups and downs. I had my fun days in high school, and the dumps. Up until I got laid off, I was pretty happy. Right now I regret sitting on my ass before looking for work - but I've still got other things in my life which keep me sane.
actually to be certain, personally the "best time" of my life IS now - in the sense of more confident about who i am, how i feel about things, finally being able to buy stuff i can afford, do things i like to do (hockey!) and also now that i don't look 14 anymore i actually pass for 24year old and it's the latest trendy accessory to be the Hot Asian Girl!~!! but the best time of friendships were in school, with the girls, with you guys at McGill... i haven't made deep friendships as deep as the ones with you guys, and that reminds me to cherish them even more...
hugz sharks game now, gotta see them play on tv. :) write more later
